£35.0030 Day Technical Challenge
The 30 Day Technical Challenge This 30 day program is a step by step guide to improve your technique. Each practice session is laid out day by day, exercise by exercise for maximum technical improvement. During the next 30 days you will improve: Breathing Lip Flexibility Single Tonguing Finger Dexterity The Bootcamp will only require a small amount of extra time on top of your normal practice regiment. All you will need is a metronome and your instrument. It does not matter if you are grade 1 or grade 8+ this program will improve your technique. Practice Until Failure If you do not practice until you fail, you are not pushing your technique to its limit. Whether it be squeezing the last drop of air out of your lungs in a breathing exercise, or completing a tonguing exercise until your tongue is completely exhausted, the harder you push yourself the more progress you will see during the 30 days. Taking The Tests Take all 4 tests on day 1. Try to push yourself and reach the highest level possible. There over 20 levels that you can achieve on each test. Start each test from the beginning, playing each exercise at the stated tempo markings before moving on. Exercise 1 corresponds to levels 1 - 5, one level for each tempo written. Levels 6 - 10 are from Exercise 2, 11 - 15 Exercise 3 and 16 - 20 Exercise 4. If you reach level 20, continue changing the tempo on Exercise 4 until you reach failure. Add 1 level for every extra tempo marking completed. Make note of the level you achieve for each test, this will be needed for your comparison at the end of the 30 days. Once you have taken the tests simply follow the calendar and complete the set exercises each day. The weekend practice sessions ask you to repeat the exercises from earlier in the week. This gives you a second chance to push your technique further on each exercise. The Final Test Complete the 4 tests again on day 30 and compare your results. Good luck and enjoy the next 30 days!

This piece embraces the sounds and imagery of a tribal group out singing on a remote hill top, where individuals sing out a 2 bar phrase and the remainder of their group sing a response. This foot-tapping Latin-style cornet feature was written by Barrie Gott for the Brisbane Excelsior Band. The composer writes: 'I had wanted to write something in this genre after the success of the third movement of the Jazz Suite. Entertainment numbers are always needed for park and popular concerts. It is important that the rhythm section maintains a consistent tempo. They can be featured also. The samba rhythm and feel should be maintained throughout. VIEW SCORE PDF This magnificent work by Kenneth Downie was commissioned by Festival Brass Band of Belgium, and its conductor Manu Mellaerts. It was first performed by the band on 10th October 2010, in Mechelen, a beautiful old city in the province of Antwerp. The composer writes: 'The chorale in the title is the famous one associated with the words 'Now thank we all our God', dating from 17th century Germany. The words were written by Martin Rinkart and the music by Johann Cruger. The use of the word 'tangents' in the title can best be understood as variations. This is another set of variations, in the line of St. Magnus, Princethorpe and Purcell Variations. I still cannot resist the urge to present familiar material in an unfamiliar way! Hopefully, the listener can relate to these tangents, and experience some of the joy that I receive when writing them.' Chernigov is an area, originally part of the USSR, now Ukraine, originally inhabited by Cossack tribes. £204.00Folklore - Kjetil Djønne
"Folklore" is a work for brass band and percussion loosely based on the story of the Norwegian woman accused of witchcraft, Anne Pedersdotter. She was sentenced to be burned at the stake in Bergen in the spring of 1590 and has since been frequently highlighted as Norway's most famous and talked-about witch.The work begins with the movement "Lyderhorn," depicting the mountain outside Bergen where witches gathered to plan magical actions against the city. Here, we hear the quietness of nature and the wind blowing through the trees before a new theme appears, which will come to life in the next movement. In the distance, the witches have started their ceremony.In the next movement, "Walpurgis Night," the witches perform their rituals to afflict the city with fire, disease, and natural disasters. The ceremony becomes more and more chaotic, violent, and compelling until the darkness of the night envelops us, concluding the section.The third movement describes the women's inner struggle against the harassment they faced when the people of Bergen suspected them of being witches. Rumors often turned into formal accusations from the legal system, and many were sentenced to death after undergoing trial. "From life to death through the fire."The fourth and final movement, "The Pyre," depicts the actual death sentence. You can hear the pyre being ignited and the flames growing and intensifying. It all culminates in a chorale as a memorial to the lives that were taken.
