After the success of Dance Starters, a follow-up in the Flexible 4 Series was a must. Again, Peter Kleine Schaars composed four dances, in which he, by means of refreshing chords, uncomplicated rhythms and simple melody lines, takes youthful musicians to The Dance Club. There, they learn the cha-cha-cha, the rumba, disco dancing and an actual Oriental belly dance. Great fun for everyone. 05:00

The Dashing White Sergeant (Brass Band - Score and Parts) - Wiffin, Rob

This light programme piece is a creative and lateral tilt at the popular Scottish folk tune The Dashing White Sergeant. No composer is credited with the tune although, as early as 1884, it was thought to have been written by Henry Bishop, and there is a theory that there was a certain unwillingness to acknowledge that such a popular Scottish tune was written by an Englishman. The lyrics were written by Sir Hugh Roberton and include the line Dance away the hours together. There are many allusions to different types of dance in this piece, some traditional and others popular, and we travel around from Scotland to Siam and Spain.Duration: 3.00

This early Peter Graham work in Sinfonietta form, takes as its central theme Joy Webb's original melody 'There will be God', which speaks of 'the dawning of a brand new day'. Peter Graham's dramatic treatment takes us into a world of 'cosmic power' and evokes ideas that one day wars will end as God will rule supreme.

This music was inspired by passages from the Old and New Testaments where the last days are prophesied. It features several references to the tune 'The judgment day' along with the more contemporary songs 'I see the King of Glory' and 'Salvation belongs to our God'.
