Judd: Themes from New World Symphony

For three years the Czech composer Dvorak lived and worked in America and this, his ninth and last symphony, contains impressions of that continent. This arrangement for brass band follows the scheme of the original in movement order and theme presentation although a certain amount of 'condensing' of material has naturally been inevitable.

Judd: This is My Story

A 'Latin' style solo for cornet or trumpet based on the hymn tune 'Blessed Assurance'.

Judd: Thy Matchless King

Diademata is the subject for a thrilling and energetic concert opener by Joel Collier from the USA Southern Territory.

Judd: Time and Eternity

Following the popularity of the composer's earlier cornet and euphonium duet, 'I'll Not Turn Back', this duet was written for The International Staff Band's 2000 recording, 'Renaissance' on which the soloists were David Daws and Derick Kane.

Judd: Timepiece

This duet was heavily influenced by the famous euphonium solo, 'Grandfather's Clock' and references to that melody and clock sounds (tick-tock, cuckoo etc.) are plentiful!

Judd: To Music

This beautiful melody became popular in The Salvation Army after it appeared with a new set of words by Will Brand under the title More than these in January 1949. This arrangement for cornet and brass band was originally published in 1961.

Judd: To Regions Fair

Clive Bright, in his score note when To Regions Fair was originally published in 1958, predicted that the march would 'have a good run'. In retrospect, this turned out to be something of an understatement as this march (and many other Bearcroft marches) remains vibrantly active fifty years after its original publication. The title is derived from the song 'Meet in bliss' which is featured in the trio section.

Judd: To Stand with Jesus

A thoughtful treatment of Envoy Ferguson's simple yet powerful song, the first verse of which reads 'You must go home by the way of the cross, to stand with Jesus in the morning'.

Judd: To Win the World

This double trio (three cornets and three trombones) was written for the National Capital Band of The Salvation Army in memory of Colonel William Maltby and is based on his own chorus, 'Keep on marching with a fighting faith'. Each solo part is of equal importance so six competent soloists will be required in order to make the piece sparkle!
