Brass Band score only. Space Invaders is an arcade video game designed by Tomohiro Nishikado. Following its release in 1978, the game caused a temporary shortage of 100-yen coins in Japan, and the Guinness World Records ranks it the top arcade game. The piece commences with a fanfare-like passage with shifting time signatures, before settling into a funk-inspired groove, led by the bass section, bass trombone and percussion. An intricate ensemble section, either side of a tongue-in-cheek 'B' section (where Space Invader images and firing sounds were projected behind Foden's at Brass in Concert) all lead to a powerful and tight finish. £15.99O' Rest In The Lord Felix Mendelssohn arr. Joseph Knight
Mendelssohn conducted the first English performance of 'Elijah' on 26 August 1846 at Birmingham Town Hall and it was immediately acclaimed a classic of the genre. This Aria, O' Rest In The Lord, is a classic for alto voice and therefore transposes nicely for the Tenor Horn. In this arrangement the whole Tenor Horn section plays the alto part to produce a sublime timbre. This is a fantastic feature piece for any concert.

Programme Notes from Andrew Duncan:Like many of the arrangements in the Flexi-Collection - Popular Classics Series I have simplified the rhythms and time signature, etc. I have also omitted trills for ease of playing.Dynamics form a very important aspect of this arrangement and it is important to observe these, especially the p markings. Every dynamic from p through to ff is used as well as some crescendos.The 1st Cornet/Trumpet part is perhaps more difficult than in some of the other arrangements in the series, but the other parts are fairly simple in comparison.The Percussion part (which is optional) is unusual in that it calls for two 'Anvils' to be played. Programme Notes by Andrew Duncan:This arrangement is fairly simple and the strong melodic and rhythmic lines should help introduce inexperienced players to the concept of playing in 3 time.
