Departed Heroes (Brass Band - Score and Parts) - Coles, Bramwell
The ominous silences heard in Departed Heroes at dramatic moments and the falling chromatic sequences laced throughout give this stirring march a sad tint, most appropriate in this salute to Salvation Army warriors of the past.

A Baroque Triptych (Brass Band - Score and Parts) - Beringen, Robert van
In his own distinctive style, Robert van Beringen has composed a very unique fantasy on three themes by the famous Baroque composers Johann Sebastian Bach and George Friedrich Hndel. Van Beringen used Bach's chorale Brich an, o schnes Morgenlicht ('Break forth, O Beauteous Heavenly Light') from his Christmas Oratorio and the recitative Behold, a Virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Emmanuel, God with Us from Hndel's Messiah. A perfect way to say Merry Christmas in music!Duration: 5:00

Daystar (Brass Band - Score only) - Steadman-Allen, Ray
The title of this work is taken from 2 Peter 1:19 which refers to the word of prophecy about 'the light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts'. The beautiful hymn tune Ascalon is the main focal point while the composer also makes use of the less well-known melody My Saviour suffered on the tree.

Canaanas Land (Euphonium Solo with Brass Band - Score only) - Graham, Peter
Derick Kane specifically asked Peter Graham to write a solo with the title 'Canaan's Land' in response to Stephen Bulla's solo 'Air 'n Variations' written for Aaron VanderWeele, all puns intended! The theme is the song 'Bound for Canaan's shore' and the first variation pays homage to Norman Bearcroft's 'The Better World' which was also especially written for Derick Kane. The slow section makes use of the tune 'A little star peeps o'er the hill' after which follows the finale, in a polonaise style, with further shades of 'The Better World'.

The Triumph Of Peace (Brass Band - Score only) - Ball, Eric
This ever popular Eric Ball 'classic' is played as much today as it has ever been. Composed in the wake of the Munich crisis and the return of British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain after his talks with Hitler, this tone poem juxtaposes music of urgency (the chromatic opening subject) with Eric Ball's own hymn for peace, 'Peace in our time O Lord'.
