The work Prevision has been composed in a free fantasy form. Deep in thought the composer sketches his prevision - the development of his small grandson growing up to be an adult. After a brilliant introduction, a slow march follows, which symbolises the first steps toward adulthood. Aspects such as love and a sense of security, that are indispensable for a positive development, are presented in a calm middle section, after which an energetic closing part refers to the rebelliousness of an adolescent. The grand finale of Prevision expresses the grandfather's and composer's positive picture of the future. 10:30

Step Aside Brass Band (Score & Parts)
Excuse me, may I play along? Could you step aside, please? 'Step Aside' is a pleasant competition both between two tempi and among the different parts. After a short, slow introduction it is the drummer who, without asking the questions above, sets the high pace. As soon as this rapid movement has been established, 'part 1' takes the lead, but the other parts obviously don't want to miss a thing and follow in rapid succession. At the end of the composition the various parts 'compete' in order to be able to play solo for a while, but soon others join in again, asking 'Excuse me, may I play along?' 02:15

Symphonic Contrasts is an original composition in three harmoniously connected movements. The first movement opens with a brilliant introduction and presents two themes that are developed simultaneously and become intermingled. Tchaikovsky composed his fifth symphony in the summer of 1888. He suggested that the opening-and recurrent-theme of the symphony represented "a complete resignation before Fate." The finale begins with a slow introduction of the 'fate' theme which segues into an Allegro Vivace of drive and energy, during which a majestic version of the fate theme periodically emerges.
