The theme for the programme celebrated 30 years of Aladdin's premiere on screens in the United Kingdom and in this section of the story, Aladdin and Jasmine take a magic carpet ride beneath the starry skies as their love for one another grows stronger, during which Aladdin reveals his true self to Jasmine as being Prince Ali Ababwa and not the poor commoner that he dresses as to escape the stresses of royal life. .

Played by the fabulous Cory Band in their 2016 Christmas series, this lively piece is a real audience pleaser. It brightens up a Christmas concert and is an arrangement of two dances; Christmas jig, in 6/8 time, and a reel in 4/4, based on the traditional French Canadian folk song; 'The Mouth of the Tobique'.The basses have a vital role in creating a Celtic style drone sound, and the percussion a simple but effective Irish rhythm. The Marriage Proposal | Soprano Cornet & Trombone Feature | Richard Genee arr Dario Salvi
Richard Genee, a highly skilled librettist, playwright and composer is one of the lesser known names in the Viennese repertoire, yet his work is justifiably famous. He is best known for his libretto of Die Fledermaus, Johann Strauss II's most famous operetta, but also wrote many pieces of music in his own right, including the 1876 operetta 'Der Seerkadet'.Das Engagements, or The Marriage Proposal was discovered by Dario Salvi in the US Library of Congress, and arranged for Brass Band as a Soprano Cornet and Trombone Feature.

The Sorcerer's Apprentice | Dukas arr. Alwyn Green
Most of us are familiar with the symphonic poem written by 19th century composer, Paul Dukas, which was inspired by an 18th century poem by Goethe in which the sorcerer's apprentice, desiring to save himself some work attempts to try his hand at his masters craft when things go terribly wrong!This version, arranged by Alwyn Green for Brass Band, captures the spirit of the original masterpiece in a complex and challenging score for Brass Band.
