This is a great little Christmas number that is easy to get together. It starts with a simple quartet setting of the carol, it then moves into the full band playing the piece. Then there is a minor, slightly Russian setting of the music, before it moves into a 3/4 waltz setting back in the tonic key. It then moves back 4/4 for the final setting of the carol with a full final verse before moving back to a quartet for the ending.

This can definitely be described as a fun piece from Steve Robson, with a bit of clever styling thrown in for good measure!With an initial, melodious theme written in the style of a 'Baroque' composition, it is then recreated in a modern 'Rock' idiom, joining the two extremes and presenting a great little number to brighten your concert programme.Whilst this already demonstrates one instance of its play on words, it's also worth noting that this composition also formed part of the writer's portfolio for his BA degree!Whilst written withfour percussion parts of Timpani, Kit, Tambourine, Glockenspiel & Cow Bell, the tambourine part can be omitted if necessary.

A creative arrangement by Jon Bennett for full brass band, of this popular melody made famous originally as a solo piece by Eddie Calvert.This full brass band version offers an upbeat and varied alternative with plenty of style development and percussion interest. From its opening of the featured melody, the piece takes on a range of other new angles in its scoring, including little solo spotlights and some great jazz textures, making it a real item of interest. £131.00Magdalena Bay - Gauthier Dupertuis
While admiring many masterpieces at the Louvre Museum in Paris, Gauthier Dupertuis' attention was drawn to a less famous painting: Magdalena Bay, by French painter Francois-Auguste Biard (1799-1882).The work depicts a magnificent snowy landscape on the Norwegian island of Spitsbergen. However, in the foreground, the presence of the wreckage of a ship, bodies covered in snow and a visibly dying character make us understand that tragic events took place there. Thus, a strong contrast is formed between death and the sublime, between the desolation of the survivors of the shipwreck and the magnificence of the landscape. When we look in more detail at the painting, we notice that footprints have been made in the snow: so, could someone have gone to get help? This little glimmer of hope makes the picture even more touching. In this work, Gauthier Dupertuis tried to describe the different elements of the painting, using contrasting sections and dissonances (in particular, the conflict between the minor and the major) to convey the duality between death and the sublime. The work also attempts to highlight a wide palette of orchestral colors, from the most shimmering lines to the darkest low brass colours. In 2024, Magdalena Bay was awarded the first Prize as well as the band Prize at the 9th European Composition Competition for Brass Band, which was held in Palanga (LT). It was premiered on May 2, 2024 by The Cory Band, conducted by Philip Harper.

Skidaddle will be the perfect item to provide a lighter moment in your band's programme. The composer Barrie Gott writes: ''Skidaddle' literally means to move in a hurry. This piece means exactly that - to get moving. I was experimenting at the piano at school one morning waiting for my first students and this little ditty came to mind. Four hours later I had the first draft done! It is supposed to be a bit of fun with a few technical demands for cornet and euphonium in particular. The semi-quaver (sixteenth) work needs to be precise. Try and get the audience involved and they'll be yours for the larger works on the programme.' Nightlights was commissioned by Chris Jeans and Don Collins for Youth Brass 2000, to be used as part of their programme at the 2019 European Championships. Written during January 2019, Nightlights received its world premiere by Youth Brass 2000, conducted by Chris Jeans with Siobhan Bates as soloist, at the 2019 European Brass Band Championships in Montreux, Switzerland.Nightlights is intended to illustrate a winter's evening looking out across Lake Geneva from Montreux. Tiny lights appear beneath the mountains from faraway homes and vehicles, flickering in the distance and shimmering in the reflections on the water. Tiny, blinking nightlights against the inky blue of the clear sky. Thousands of stars shine above, blurring the boundaries between land, water, and the heavens into a sparkling ether. Transfixed, the bustle of sounds and lights from Montreux seems a lot further away than it is in reality. Eventually, each little light blinks out, one at a time, leaving the chill of the cold night air and an empty sky.Duration: 4.30

Moon Pictures is a piece depicting mans enduring fascination with our nearest neighbour in the sky, the Moon.Following the introduction there are four continuous sections.1. Moon Dance, describes the ancient and widespread worship of the moon by many cultures.2. Tidal Flows, is about the soothing and constant heartbeat of our oceans and seas.3. Invasion of the Little Green Men, is a more light-hearted depiction of a 1950's Sci-Fi style invasion by silver suited aliens from the moon.4. 1969 A.D, describes the preparations, launch and eventual touchdown on the Moon of the historic Apollo 11 mission.Moon Pictures was written for the Todmorden Old Band in 21 with funds provided by the Millennium Commission and recorded by them on their CD 'Moon Pictures'.
