Doug Engle)Prayer offers us an opportunity to communicate with the Lord. The words of this hymn invite us to bring our concerns to a God who listens. As you listen to this arrangement, take time to reflect on how God has remained faithful through times of peace and distress.No. 1281 (2) The Lord bless you and keep you (arr. Andrew Wainwright)Peter Lutkin's beloved choral benediction is well known in vocal circles. Here it is given a simple treatment that it is hoped will inspire prayer reflection and renewed confidence in God's protection and guidance.No. 1282 March - I serve a risen Saviour (Noel Jones)This Easter march features the following songs: 'Look, ye saints! the sight is glorious' and 'I serve a risen Saviour'. The motif 'I serve a risen Saviour' is used throughout the first section of this march.

Marsjkonkurransen - Bo-Carlsen - Haakon Esplo
"Gurines March" is a very well-known song in Norway. Lalla Carlsen made great success performing it in the Chat Noir Revue "Det er servert" ("It's Served") in 1932 and in the movie "Opp med hodet" the same year. The song is the same melody that was used for the "The Man Who Broke the Bank at Monte Carlo".Norwegian singer/banjo player Kari Svendsen is one of many performers who have made recordings of the tune from then on to this day. "Gurines March" is great for parade, where it certainly will bring a smile or two among the audience.

£29.95A Little Prayer - Evelyn Glennie
Originally composed for solo marimba, this popular version of A Little Prayer was made in 1998 following Evelyn Glennie's collaboration with Black Dyke Band during the recording of their Grammy nominated Reflected in Brass CD. Robert Childs, then principal euphonium with Black Dyke, requested Evelyn's permission to make the arrangement for his son, David. The composer obliged, and Robert presented the score and parts to his son as a seventeenth birthday present. Evelyn Glennie revealed: "When I wrote this chorale for marimba, it expressed my spiritual feelings and displayed a pleasantly relaxed dimension of the instrument. Over the years my exposure to brass bands has filled me with wonder; their musical diversity is considerable. I had no hesitation in giving A Little Prayer to Robert Childs to bring this little melody to life." Having composed the work when she was only 13, Evelyn continued: "As a child I would never have believed that such a short and simple piece of music, would come to grow this much. A little Prayerserves to prove that one should always bet their chips on what they believe in, for nine out of ten it will be worth it!" After twenty years of exclusivity, Prima Vista Musikk is proud to make this beautiful arrangement available to all. This work was specially commissioned as the test piece for a new brass band competition in 1971, held at the Royal Albert Hall, London. It is in three movements, the titles of which all have literary connotations. The first movement, Dialogue takes the form of 'conversations' between the instruments, based on the opening melody announced in unison on cornets and euphoniums. A second theme is introduced on the flugel horn and developed alongside this, creating a sonata form shell.The second movement, Soliloquy is dedicated to the memory of Gilbert Vinter - a composer who did so much in the 1960s to bring the brass band into the modern world. The movement is poignant in mood, which is depicted by a cornet solo announced after a brief introduction. The middle section builds to a powerful climax, at which point the opening theme of the first movement is heard again. Tranquillity returns however, with a solo trombone now playing the original theme with other instruments adding decorative accompanying patterns.The final movement, Epigram, creates strong rhythmic contrasts and exploits the more virtuoso character of the brass band. The middle section, with its changing time patterns and open expansive melody, suggests a 'big-country' style. A rhythmically charged coda concludes the work in exciting fashion.Duration: 12.00

This piece embraces the sounds and imagery of a tribal group out singing on a remote hill top, where individuals sing out a 2 bar phrase and the remainder of their group sing a response. 1363: Festival March - Collect the harvest (Anders Beijer)This march is a call to tell others about the salvation we have received and bring people to Jesus. Jesus has bought us with his blood, and we now belong to him and stand under his protection, surrounded by his love and care. After brief references to the melody Bringing in the sheaves (S.A.S.B. 58) (also appearing later in the work in full) and an original melody, we hear the familiar tune Saviour, like a shepherd. This music should be performed with great joy and enthusiasm.1364: O come, Immanuel (Steve Kellner)The text of this beautiful Advent hymn (C.C. 62) dates to the 8th century and its chant-like tune to the 15th century. While the text alludes to Israel's captivity in Babylon and the coming Messiah, it in fact refers to the believer's anticipation of Jesus' second coming. The original chant melody was call and response, so the opening motif serves as the call, returning throughout the arrangement.1365: Our Consecration (Marcus Venables)This arrangement uses the tune St Margaret (T.B. 427) to the beloved hymn by George Matheson, O love that wilt not let me go (S.A.S.B. 616), which highlights the powerful and enduring nature of God's love. The use of the melodic fragment on the word 'go' serves as a subtle question mark, inviting the listener to reflect on the human qualities that may cause doubt in the steadfastness of God's love for us. However, as the piece ends, there is a sense of peace and assurance that we can truly rely on the never-ending love of God in our lives. This powerful and emotive arrangement will leave the listener feeling uplifted and encouraged by the knowledge that they are held securely in the arms of God's love.1366: March - The bell ringer (David Rowsell)The title of this march refers to someone who stands by the iconic Salvation Army Christmas kettle and receives donations from passers-by. They ring a bell to attract attention and subtly invite people to give a donation in support of The Salvation Army's work. This march was written as a tribute to the many volunteers worldwide who support this campaign each year. The music features the choruses from two Christmas carols, Sweet chiming Christmas bells (C.C. 83) and Sweet chiming bells (C.C. 82).

Flashback Brass Band (Score & Parts)
Which of us does not have them, memories? Everyone sometimes remembers things from the past, be they happy memories or not. Sometimes, a scent may remind us of a particular place, or a tune may bring back memories of a certain situation. John DeBee experienced something similar when he heard a song on the radio: he immediately picked up his pen and composed 'Flashback'. It has become a piece that appeals to the ear, which will provide both the musicians performing it and their audience with pleasant memories. 02:45
