The work Prevision has been composed in a free fantasy form. Deep in thought the composer sketches his prevision - the development of his small grandson growing up to be an adult. After a brilliant introduction, a slow march follows, which symbolises the first steps toward adulthood. Aspects such as love and a sense of security, that are indispensable for a positive development, are presented in a calm middle section, after which an energetic closing part refers to the rebelliousness of an adolescent. School's Cool Brass Band (Score & Parts)
This short, "cool" suite in three movements can be performed with a variety of instruments from a handful of players to a complete brass band. The first movement radiates joy with a powerful 3/4 beat. The second movement is in the style of a pavane, which gives a sense of nostalgia and the final movement forms a cheerful and high-spirited closing with a really funky beat. Brass Band set available separately. Op.109 Song of Freedom was commissioned by the National School Brass Band Association to commemorate the Association's 21st Anniversary. The first performance was given on 12th May 1973 at the Harlow Sportscentre by the Netteswell School Band and Choir, conducted on that occasion by the composer. The idea sprang out of a desire by the N.S.B.B.A. to mark it's 'coming of age' by bringing into being a work for chorus and Brass Band which was within the scope of an average School Band and Choir. The four movements are: Prelude; Hymn; Intermezzo; Postlude. Duration: 19:00

It is true that tastes differ. Coffee has known a long history : it has been drunk since the 17th century. On one hand people drink coffee for relaxation, on the other hand it is drunk to ward off tiredness or sleepiness. 'Strong Coffee' composed by Ron Gilmore works both ways. There will be people who will be able to relax during 'Strong Coffee', whereas others will experience it as a real boost. Is it a bit too strong after all, such a funky Soul Beat? Suite Celebration Brass Band (Score & Parts) - Fraser, Bruce
Bruce Fraser composed this test piece for the 'Gouden Spiker Festival' 2003 (The Netherlands). Suite Celebration was inspired by events in his recent family life. The first movement celebrates the marriage of his daughter and reflects her bubbly personality and vitality. The melodies and harmonies of the whole work are based on a note row which came up during a discussion with the publisher. The second movement celebrates the birth of his grand-daughter 'Rebecca Aileen' and takes the form of a ballad featuring expressive opportunities for the soloists. The final movement is more of a look into the future and hope of success and a good life for his family. Who knows what is coming? 11:00

The African Connection Brass Band (Score & Parts)
Carl Wittrock's wide interest in global folk-music resulted in this concert-piece based on original African rhythms. Obviously, the percussion section has a conspicious role to play, but the band too may indulge itself in moments of thoroughly delightful excitement. The introduction depicts the awakening of nature, and develops into a dance. The (main) motif of this dance is from a dance entitled Apollo and comes from Gambia. Its accompaniment consists of an ostinato pattern by balaphon-master Maudo Susa. The quiet middle movement is based on the rhythm of the 'gigbo' : a traditional dance from Ghana. In the final movement -which also bears a slight resemblance to a theme from 'The Lion King'- the so-called 'Kono' rhythm is used. The work is played most advantageously using djembes. Challenge and please your percussion section with 'The African Connection'. 06:30
