A fun and educational collection of 7 pieces created by Steve Robson, with optional narration, providing a time-travelling journey through the history of 2000 years of music to the present time.Originally written for Stanhope Youth Band, the piece has now been well received by other youth bands far and wide. Dutch composer, artist and poet Adriaen Valerius is mostly remembered today for his collection of 79 songs for voice and lute or cittern, published posthumously in 1626. Philip Sparke has taken one melody from this collection that tells of the War of Independence with Spain. The beautiful slow melody is followed by a series of lively variations to form an extremely entertaining piece that will bring great joy to all who perform and listen to it.

Tomorrow Shall Be My Dancing Day is a traditional carol. Its first notated appearance was in William B. Sandy's collection 'Christmas Carols Ancient and Modern' in 1888. The verses of the carol progress through the story of Jesus - as told in his own voice. It is thought the origins of this carol are rooted in the fourteenth century. Duration: 3.00

£35.00The Holly and the Ivy (Brass Band - Score and Parts) - McKenzie, Jock
This traditional folk carol was collected by Cecil Sharp and was published in his collection 'English Folk-Carols' in 1911. Sharp states that he heard the tune sung by Mrs Mary Clayton at Chipping Campden in the Cotswolds, Gloucestershire. Variants of the carol's lyrics appeared in various publications around the English Midlands, most notably in Birmingham in the early 19th century. This arrangement focuses' on the line from the carol's refrain "and the running of the deer" - influencing both choice pace and the 'hurdles' to be jumped over. Duration: 2.00

£35.00I Saw Three Ships (Brass Band - Score and Parts) - McKenzie, Jock
This is a traditional English carol rumoured to have originated in Derbyshire. The earliest printed version is from the 17th century and the familiar version was later published in William Sandys' collection of 'Christmas Carols Ancient and Modern' in 1833. There are numerous theories as to the meaning of the carol's words; after all, Bethlehem, the place of Jesus' birth is not a coastal location. It has been suggested that the ships are actually camels (ships of the desert) used by the Magi for their visit to the baby Jesus. My arrangement takes advantage of the traditional 'jig' style of this carol to add a little 'Celtic' flavour. Duration: 3.00

It is a haunting miniature created in response to the horrors of the illegal trade in African elephant ivory. Partita for Solo Euphonium and Brass BandThe Four Elements was written for Gary Curtin and the Black Dyke Band as part of a recording project of Martin Ellerby's brass band music. The composer, having previously written a large scale concerto for the euphonium, decided to write something much more concise though still enabling the soloist to display flair and lyricism in equal measure. Each movement is approximately 2 minutes long, a set of miniatures, based on the four elements of earth, water, air and fire, and are given their Latin manes of terra, aqua, aer and ignis in the score. The term partita is used to indicate that the work is a collection, or suite, of pieces and in keeping with former examples, uses both song and dance forms to provide suitable musical structures.Duration: 8.00
