Based on the book by Victor Hugo, Les Misrables has been entertaining audiences around the world since its first performance in London in 1985. Whilst the initial critical reviews were not favourable, the paying public disagreed and the success of the West End musical led to a Broadway production. The show had a big revival in 2012 with the release of the hit film. In this new specially arranged Concert Suite, which features a built in encore - the Epilogue to the show (should you wish to use it) and an optional cut omitting the more difficult sections (making the work accessible to lower section bands), this work gives your band the chance to bring a touch of Broadway to your audience. The Suite features the Prologue, On My Own, Bring Him Home, Master of the House, One Day More & Can You Hear The People Sing? A great audience pleaser and grand concert or contest work that belongs in every bands library.

Masquerade - Carl Nielson - Bill Willis
The opera, Masqurade, plot revolves around Leander and Leonora, two young persons who meet fortuitously at a masquerade ball, swear their undying love for each other and exchange rings. The following day, Leander tells a servant of his newfound love. He soon becomes distraught when informed by the servant that his parents have betrothed him in marriage to a neighbour's daughter. Things get complicated when Leonard, the neighbour whose daughter is the other part of the previously unknown arrangement, comes complaining to Leander's father that his daughter is in love with someone she met at the masquerade last night. In the third act, all is resolved when the various parties slip off to the night's masquerade, where all is revealed to everyone's mutual satisfaction. The overture is a stunning work, very entertaining for audiences and players alike.

This Swiss traditional melody has grown in popularity over the last decade and is heard in churches across the globe sang to the words 'My Faith It Is An Oaken Staff' by Thomas Lynch. This classic song has been entertaining audiences around the globe since it was originally written back in 1977. It didn't reach world-wide success until the piece was recorded by artist Bette Midler and featured in the film, The Rose. Songwriter, Amanda McBroom recalls that she wrote the piece in just 45 minutes. The work has now been arranged as a gorgeous Euphonium solo with lower brass (flugelhorn down the band) accompaniment and is a great new addition to a soloist's repertoire. The work is not technically demanding and the lyrical tone of the piece is one that will allow players of all ages to shine with this solo. £100.00Handel in the Band (Brass Band - Score and Parts)
Handel in the Band is a virtuoso set of symphonic variations on one of Handel's best known keyboard dances, the Sarabande from his Suite in D minor, HWV 437, based on the Spanish traditional dance La Folia. Kenneth Downie's work was commissioned by Brass Band Treize Etoiles, for performance at the 2013 Swiss National Brass Band Championships, where it was conducted by James Gourlay. The title is a reference to Percy Grainger's popular Handel in the Strand, and is indicative of the witty and theatrical nature of the music, which is more playful than conventional competition pieces and as such offers different challenges to brass bands as well as being thoroughly entertaining for audiences.Kenneth Downie is one of the most respected and experienced brass band composers. His music has been widely performed and published throughout the brass band world since the 1960s.Handel in the Band was selected as the set work for the Championship Section final of the 2018 National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain, which took place at the Royal Albert Hall, London, on 6th October 2018.Duration: 15.00
