It is known the world over and synonymous with the sounds of children singing this gentle, lyrical song. This attractive Bossa Nova-style arrangement for vocal or flugel/cornet soloist with brass band has been made by Australian composer Sam Creamer. The key is suitable for male or female vocalists, or in the absence of a vocal soloist a part has been supplied for flugel horn or cornet soloist. A piano accompaniment that matches this band arrangement is also available here and may be used as an alternate accompaniment in the absence of a full band, or can be used simultaneously by a rhythm section alongside the brass band. Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas has been a Christmas favourite to many since its first release, extensively featuring in Christmas movies, broadcasts and programming. It has also been recorded numerous times by artists including Judy Garland, Frank Sinatra, Tori Amos, Michael Buble, Christina Aguilera, and Chicago. £35.62Adoration (Cornet Solo with Brass Band) Florence Price trs. Andrew Wainwright
Florence Price was an American classical composer, pianist, organist and music teacher. She is noted as the first African-American woman to be recognised as a symphonic composer, and the first to have a composition played by a major orchestra. Price composed over 300 works: four symphonies, four concertos, as well as choral works, art songs, chamber music and music for solo instruments. In 2009, a substantial collection of her works and papers that had been previously considered lost was found in her abandoned summer home. Amongst these was this delightful work, Adoration, which had been composed in the 1950s for organ. According to IMSLP.org, the piece "failed to meet notice or renewal requirements to secure statutory copyright with no 'restoration' under the GATT amendments" and therefore is in the public domain. A version for violin and piano by Elaine Fine has become popular. This setting for cornet soloist with brass band has been arranged by Andrew Wainwright. £63.34Caprice (Euphonium Solo with Brass Band) Andrew Batterham
VIEW SCORE PDF Caprice was written for Matthew van Emmerik, to showcase his virtuosity in an engaging piece of concert music. The work is in theme and variation form, with the primary material being the theme from the last of Paganini's Ventiquattro Capricci per violino solo, a collection of 24 caprices for solo violin. This theme has been the inspiration for similar works by many composers since it was first published, including Liszt, Brahms, Rachmaninov, Benny Goodman and Andrew Lloyd Webber. In this work, the famous theme is treated to a more contemporary approach. The first variation, Capricious, relies on motor rhythms and jagged dialogues between the soloist and the band. It is couched in an organic scale reminiscent of the Phrygian mode. The second variation, Sad, is in direct contrast, acting as a traditional ballad and allowing the soloist to explore the expressive side of the instrument. The third variation, Energetic, is a micro set of variations in itself, designed to display the soloist's innovative technique and stamina. Each section is more challenging than the last, until the work concludes with a whirlwind dance at breakneck speed. Like all of Batterham's recent work, the musical language of Caprice draws upon classical, jazz, funk and ska elements to create a unique sound where anything can happen, and probably will. This arrangement was made possible through Matt's instigation and generosity. This charming setting by Australian composer Barrie Gott is of the favourite carol The First Nowell. Although this version is for brass band, choir and piano, it is orchestrated such that it will work for standalone brass band. The arranger writes: 'I have always been fascinated with the words and music of this majestic carol. It was first written for choir and piano and then orchestrated for the Brisbane Lord Mayor's Carols with the Queensland Pops Orchestra. A further arrangement for brass band was done for a Salvation Army event. The setting is for four verses (1,2,5 and 6) and tells the Gospel story in a nutshell. Written at the request of David Daws for his solo album The Sound of David Daws, this meditation for cornet and brass band uses the composer's own song Before the cross (originally published in The Musical Salvationist, April 1965), the first lines of which are Before the cross I stand in fear and wonder, and see that all my sirs on Thee are laid. The song was written at an early stage of the composer's career, just before commencing study at The Royal Academy of Music, London. After a brief introduction the melody is heard twice, first played by the soloist, then on Euphonium and Flugel Horn with the soloist adding ornate counterpoint before taking up the melody once again, this time leading to a quiet and reflective conclusion.

The Torchbearer was commissioned as the test piece for the 2009 National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain and the FABB Open Contest respectively and pays musical tribute to Eric Ball, considered by many to be the 20th century's most influential composer of brass band music. The thematic material is derived from the first phrase of the trio from Eric Ball's Salvation Army march, Torchbearers.Follow the Flame is a main theme from the larger work, now fully metamorphosised and mirroring in music a concept at the centre of Ball's broader philosophy, that of transformation.
