1367: March - Risen, conquering Son (Noel Jones)Two uplifting Easter songs are featured in this march; Low in the grave he lay (S.A.S.B. 228) with words and music written by Robert Lowry, and Thine is the glory (S.A.S.B. 276) with words by Edmond L. Budry and music by George F. Handel. Both serve as a powerful reminder of the resurrection of Jesus.1368: Horn Solo - O how much he cared for me (Keith Wilkinson)This solo was originally penned for Bandsman Frank Taylor, who plays Solo Horn at Stapleford Citadel Corps. As its basis, it uses the popular hymn No one ever cared for me like Jesus by Charles F. Weigle, a Baptist evangelist who wrote more than a thousand hymns.1369: My Redeemer lives (Olaf Ritman)This arrangement of Reuben Morgan's well-known worship song (S.A.S.B. 223) was first written as an accompaniment for congregational singing and can still be used in that way. It was inspired by the American R&B group Tower of Power and is meant to sound soulful and funky.1370: Selection - With life anew (Mervyn Clarke)This selection features music associated with two hymns; Blessd Saviour, now behold me (S.A.S.B. 575) by William Baugh and Breathe on me, breath of God (S.A.S.B. 294) by Edwin Hatch. Although Edwin Hatch's hymn-writing output was very small, this hymn has seen numerous settings and melodies associated with the words from which the piece takes its title; two of these melodies are featured here in Trentham and Carlisle.

£35.87'Mid all the traffic (Brass Band) Traditional arr. Andy Wareham
This stunning arrangement by British composer Andy Wareham is of the popular hymn 'Mid all the Traffic, which marries the North-American folksong Shenandoah set to lyrics by English journalist, novelist and poet William Arthur Dunkerley (written under the pseudonym of 'John Oxenham'). The hymn is very well-regarded in both the Salvation Army and wider brass band movement thanks to a popular arrangement by renowned Salvationist composer Leonard Ballantine. The arranger writes: 'This setting of 'Mid All The Traffic was originally composed during the Covid-19 pandemic as an octet arrangement for single instrument. My hope was to create an arrangement that offers an alternative view on harmony and could be multi-track recorded; allowing performers to give, and share, a performance whilst in isolation. The music was written in dedication to all of the 'key-workers' in the UK, especially in the NHS, who worked tirelessly throughout difficult conditions during the Covid-19 pandemic.' Commissioned by Micah Dominic Parsons, Blaenwern Diversions is based on the well loved hymn, Love Divine. The composer writes: 'Originally intended to be a set of variations, I found myself wandering around the notes of the hymn tune at the piano and found that the variations almost took on a life of their own resulting in what we have here - diversions. There are 8 diversions in total; the introductory diversion; diversions 1 - 6; and the finale which are divided into three linked movements. Blaenwern Diversions represents my entry into the world of contest works, so even though the piece aims to test the band, it is important that the band enjoy the music within no matter how treacherous!' VIEW SCORE PDF The arranger, Kenneth Downie writes: 'This music was commissioned by Mike Griffiths, Music Director of Riviera Concert Brass, based in Torquay in Devon, England. It is developed around the hymn tune Margaret, and written in memory of the lady of that name who was a renowned supporter of, and generous donor to the band. The graceful melody was written by Timothy Matthews (1826-1910), and it is usually associated with the words of the hymn, the first verse of which says: Thou didst leave thy throne and thy kingly crown When thou camest to earth for me; But in Bethlehem's home was there found no room For thy holy nativity, O come to my heart, Lord Jesus; There is room in my heart for thee. I feel that there is a strong emotional core to this lovely tune and any performance should seek to bring out this quality, in a musical manner.' PDF download includes score and full set of parts. Fansa da Matasa - Reid Gilje
"Fansa da Matasa" was written for Norwegian Brass Band Felleskorpset Askoy, today named Ravnanger Brass.The piece is divided into six main parts where the last one includes the hymn "Colne";Part 1 starts slowly, but rhythmically where the intensity grows towards a virtuosic Part 2.Part 2 feature a demaning solo for xylophone (bars 55 to 63). A simplified version of this solo is included in the part.Part 3 starts with some declamatory cadences and continue with several solos before it closed with a larger tutti-part.Part 4 has to be played well firmly and rhythmically. The melody is more of a cantabile style.Part 5 is a beautiful and quiet one with a touch of melancholy. (Small notes in Baritone to played if necessary).Part 6 has to be played with a rhythmic drive and intensity. The hymn "Colne" starts at bar 248 and should be played with a sostenuto-style.

No.2119 Guardian of my soul (Darren Shaw)This arrangement combines the composer's own song 'I worship you', with the well-known hymn 'O Jesus, I have promised' (S.A.S.B. 862), both of which contain the phrase, 'Guardian of my soul', within their lyrics.No.2120 Festival March - Temple 125 (Kevin Larsson)This march was written for the 125th anniversary of Bromley Temple, which is where the composer grew up and still considers his 'home corps'. This arrangement uses two songs that are closely associated with Bromley, the first being 'Jesus is all I need' (STTL Vol.1, part 1) by Hans Knutzen, who was a soldier of the corps and a member of the 'Bill Booth Revival Machine'. The second song is 'He came to give us life (T.B. 662) from the Gowans and Larsson musical, 'Jesus Folk', which was premiered using a cast from Bromley Temple.No.2121 Trombone Solo - Nothing but thy blood (Harold Burmayer)Donna Peterson's recent melody, set to the time-honoured words of Richard Slater, provides a vehicle for solo trombone with band accompaniment.No.2122 Begone, vain world (Michael Davis)A setting of the hymn tune of the same title, with which we associate the words, 'I want, dear Lord, a heart that's true and clean'.
