This work was commissioned by Eurofestival. Ever since antiquity, mankind has been fascinated by the lion: symbolising courage, strength and temperance. Many have made use of the lion to represent themselves in symbols and emblems. In five movements the composer describes both the history of the lion throughout centuries, as well as the characteristics. A challenging idea to turn into music! Frontier Vision is a concert or contest piece based on three elements: the commemoration of the 500th anniversary of Reformation Day, the Martin Luther melody, A Mighty Fortress Is Our God (Ein Feste Burg ist unser Gott) on whichthis composition is based, and thirdly the spreading of the evangelical movement in the late 19th century, of which the analogous storyline forms the structural basis of this work. Multi-cultural ethnic influences, along with the driving rhythms thatreflect the perseverance and hard work of those mission-minded pioneers, are both important components that make Frontier Vision an outstanding choice for your concert or contest. Frontier Vision was the test piece for the seconddivision in the Dutch National Brass Band Championships 2017.

The All Night Vigil is an a-cappella composition that Sergei Rachmaninov composed in January/ February 1915. It was one of Rachmaninoff's favorite among his own compositions, and it has also been called "the greatest musical achievement of the Russian Orthodox Church". "Bogoroditse Devo" is movement number 6, and the lyrics are: Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee, blessed art thou amongst women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Performance suggestion: Solo Clarinet, 1st Altosax, 1st Horn amd Solo Euphonium stand, preferably some distance away from the band. The remaining players of the band can sing from the "choir" sheet. At letter A, 1st Hornand Solo Euphonium return to their seats while Solo Clarinet and 1st Altosax remains standing until letter C

Friendly Takeover was composed for the 2016 Swiss Wind Band Convention in Montreux. In this three movement piece the composer experiments with lyrical motives combined with rhythmical pulses in different meters throughout the piece. In the finale, the musical scene is taken over completely by groove-based rhythms. This takeover, however, is of a friendly nature, as the various beats are not being conceived as rivals of the lyrical motives, but are rather supposed to infuse energy and vitality to the latter. Thus, one gets the impression of an ongoing acceleration throughout the piece.

Lead, Kindly Light is composed by the English composer Charles Henry Purday (1799-1885).This arrangement was originally written for Norwegian band Hjorungavag Brass.Purday was appointed conductor of psalmody at Crown Court ScotsChurch in Covent Garden, London, in the 1840's, during the ministry of Dr. John Cumming. Dr. Cumming's church was so popular that it was said traffic could not move in Bow Street and Drury Lane for the throng of carriages making their way toservices. Purday was a fine vocalist and had sung at the coronation of Queen Victoria. He became a music publisher, and was a pioneer in the movement for copyright law reform.

All thematical material in this piece are presented in the first movement; "What Dreams are made of"The different themes finds it's natural place in this dreaming, sequencing process throughout the music. The development are based on"chain of thought" or association of ideas. There are no apparently logical development of the movements. I believe that the listener will experience the same as me; the apparently contradictions, and non-compatible sizes, will form aself-explanatory and organic unit at the end.
