Walt Disney Pictures movie Vaiana from 2016 tells the story of Vaiana, the strong-willed daughter of the master in a Polynesian tribe. She is elected by the sea to reunite a mysterious relic with a goddess. When a disease affects the island she lives on, Vaiana set sails searching for Maui, a legendary demigod. Her goal is to save her people. The great theme song from the movie, How far I'll go, is magnificent and original and has elements of folk music. The song is nominated for Oscar in the Best original song-category. The modulation in this arrangement is re-written a semitone to make it fit our Young Band Entertainment-series.

Epilogue is taken from the movie La La Land, released in 2016. La La Land won several important prizes that year, and especially the soundtrack written by American composer Justin Hurwitz received widely acclaim.Epilogue is a medley, presented in the original soundtrack, consisting of many of the most well-known themes from the movie.This arrangement was commissioned by Jaren Hornmusikkforening in 2018. The arranger has tried to transcribe the original music as closely as possible. However, some parts are slightly different from the piano-based original music. There are also some changes in keys to make the music more playable for brass band.The piece changes style and tempo often (as the original soundtrack), which requires good abilities for both flexibility and precision in the band.There are also several rhytmically demanding parts, as well as challenging parts for soloists.

Ever since the first performance in April 1742 in Dublin, Ireland, Messiah has been the iconic Christian oratorio. It is a work of genius with lyrics skillfully taken from the Bible by Charles Jennens and timeless music by G. F. Handel, and has been at the top of the Western musical canon for close to 300 years. For unto us a child is born comes roughly halfway through Part One of the oratorio and is one of its most popular choruses, being the prophecy of the birth of a Messiah (Jesus) found in Isaiah chapter nine. Programme Notes from Andrew Duncan:Like many of the arrangements in the Flexi-Collection - Popular Classics Series I have simplified the rhythms and time signature, etc. I have also omitted trills for ease of playing.Dynamics form a very important aspect of this arrangement and it is important to observe these, especially the p markings. Every dynamic from p through to ff is used as well as some crescendos.The 1st Cornet/Trumpet part is perhaps more difficult than in some of the other arrangements in the series, but the other parts are fairly simple in comparison.The Percussion part (which is optional) is unusual in that it calls for two 'Anvils' to be played.
