Commissioned for BrassFestUK 2017 & recorded by the Cory Band, the Spirit of Brass is an exciting, new energetic work that will fit perfectly into any concert, particularly as an opening item. With memorable themes, the composition takes its roots from that of John Williams' various Olympic themes that he has composed over the years. As well as this training band version, there is also a full band version of the work available for mainstream bands. The two versions work as standalone items, or can be performed side-by-side. £37.50A Small Christmas Suite - Jonathan Mead
This fresh new Christmas Suite is an upbeat 'festive suite' from the pen of Welsh Composer, Jonathan Mead. It features three well known carols that have been given an overhaul concerts this year. The three movements can be played as one continuous suite, or separated and performed individually if time doesn't permit for the full suite to be performed. The first Movement features a 'jazzed up' version of O Come All Ye Faithful. Movement 2 allows the bands soloists to shine if a stunningly reflective setting of See Amid the Winter's Snow. The final movement sees Silent Night in a way you've never heard before and has all the 'razzmatazz', and big finish that your concert needs. A must for your band and audiences this Christmas Season.

The contest was run by the popular brass band media outlet to encourage new composers to create a new piece for lower section and youth bands. When Beethoven's First Symphony was premiered on April 2 1800, the audience was baffled by the audacity of its composer. Although the work seems, to late 20th century ears, to be little different from the late symphonies of Mozart and especially Haydn. The very opening bars gave notice to the musical world that here was a composer to be watched. Now the first movement has been arranged for full brass band, making the perfect alternative to an overture at a concert.

The well-known aria from Gilbert & Sullivan's ninth operatic collaboration together, Mikado, is now available for band as a jolly, light-hearted cornet trio. Most people will instantly recognise the opening stanza as performed by the cornet trio, but the work holds much more. Composed for the Stocksbridge Brass Band of Sheffield, this fast lively concert March gets its name from the club that the band rehearsed in. Written for the opening of the band's concerts at the "Victory Club" which was also home to the Stocksbridge Band Club (now, the City of Sheffield Band Club), where the weekly concerts have grown more and more in popularity.

Ireland is renowned for having an almost endless list of folk tunes that have been passed down from generation to generation. Now, in a moving arrangement for the Flugel soloist, 'The Verdant Braes of Skreen' has been arranged by Max Stannard and is the perfect choice for bands and soloists looking to indulge in a little Irish culture. The title has been open to debate for some time, however it is believed that the 'Screen' refers to Ballinascreen in County Londonderry, Northern Ireland and a "Brae" is a steeped bank or a hillside. A lovely addition to any soloists repertoire.

Fade Away - Andy Wareham
From the pen of Andy Wareham comes a beautifully crafted cornet solo. Composed for his best friend, Lauren Chinn, the work has a Moderato feel throughout and is lightly scored throughout the solo sections. Little intricate parts will keep the rest of the band entertained as they play their part in supporting the soft melody of this work of which, no loud playing is to be heard.
