£91.99A Bandsman's Overture (Brass Band - Score and Parts) - Sparke, Philip
A Bandsman's Overture was commissioned by British Bandsman magazine to celebrate its 125th anniversary in 2012. It was premiered by Black Dyke Band, conducted by Dr Nicholas Childs, at a special anniversary concert held in Symphony Hall, Birmingham, on July 1st.British Bandsman was for a period known as British Bandsman and Contest Field, following an amalgamation of two magazines. The then owner, John Henry Iles, celebrated this new title by commissioning Ord Hume to write the famous march, BB & CF. As a salute to this heritage A Bandsman's Overture starts with the four notes, B(b)-B(b)-C-F, a motive which permeates an opening fanfare, which contrasts a busy opening with a more legato central section. This gives way to a bustling Vivo, based on repeated staccato notes. A change of key heralds a central cantabile melody, first on euphoniums and baritone and then played by the full band, which is followed by a short development section. This leads to a transformed reprise and a return of the opening fanfare, decorated this time by florid muted cornets.Duration: 6:00

£59.99Citadel's Destiny - Thierry Deleruyelle
Citadel's Destiny is a march that can be performed either in concert or on parade. It was commissioned by the Musique de l'Infanterie de Lille. A special feature is that it adheres to the conventional codes of military marches, albeit with a modern twist. The title refers to the citadel built by Vauban in Lille, "The Queen of Citadels", with which the band shares a destiny. This march is still performed by the Infantry Band as part of their traditional concert repertoire.

1367: March - Risen, conquering Son (Noel Jones)Two uplifting Easter songs are featured in this march; Low in the grave he lay (S.A.S.B. 228) with words and music written by Robert Lowry, and Thine is the glory (S.A.S.B. 276) with words by Edmond L. Budry and music by George F. Handel. Both serve as a powerful reminder of the resurrection of Jesus.1368: Horn Solo - O how much he cared for me (Keith Wilkinson)This solo was originally penned for Bandsman Frank Taylor, who plays Solo Horn at Stapleford Citadel Corps. As its basis, it uses the popular hymn No one ever cared for me like Jesus by Charles F. Weigle, a Baptist evangelist who wrote more than a thousand hymns.1369: My Redeemer lives (Olaf Ritman)This arrangement of Reuben Morgan's well-known worship song (S.A.S.B. 223) was first written as an accompaniment for congregational singing and can still be used in that way. It was inspired by the American R&B group Tower of Power and is meant to sound soulful and funky.1370: Selection - With life anew (Mervyn Clarke)This selection features music associated with two hymns; Blessd Saviour, now behold me (S.A.S.B. 575) by William Baugh and Breathe on me, breath of God (S.A.S.B. 294) by Edwin Hatch. Although Edwin Hatch's hymn-writing output was very small, this hymn has seen numerous settings and melodies associated with the words from which the piece takes its title; two of these melodies are featured here in Trentham and Carlisle.

Kevin Downing is a young American Salvationist and this piece was originally written for the National Capitol and Virginia Divisional Youth Band.Some day (1) (Kenneth Downie)A reflective yet lifting setting of the song as titled by Dr. Kenneth Downie.Trombone Solo Silent Night (2) (David Rowsell)This is a simple setting which should be accessible for most Trombone Soloists to feature within the Christmas season.Christmas Bells (Noel Jones)This collection of carols features 'Sweet chiming Christmas bells, sweet chiming bells' and 'Ding dong merrily on high!'

The chorus does not appear in its entirety at any point, but is obvious to a greater or lesser extent, in the texture of the music.No. 1245 A Celtic Blessing (arr. Erik Silfverberg)This is a simple arrangement of c Celtic traditional tune used to the lyrics of the familiar blessing:May the road rise to meet you,May the wind be always at your back,May the sun shine warm upon your face,The rain fall soft upon your fields,Until we meet again,May God hold you in the palm of his hand.No. 1246 Michael, Row! (David Catherwood)This arrangement of the traditional chous, 'Michael, row the boat ashore' (T.B. 285), is in a light swing style and also incorporates the tunes, 'Love lifted me' (T.B. 725) and 'Will uour anchor hold?' Other songs included are There's power in the blood of the Lamb , Here is the place and Wonder-working power.No. 1240 Selerction - O for a heart whiter than snow (Noel Jones)Eliza Edmunds Hewitt's song 'O for a heart that is whiter than snow', forms the basis for this selection written by retired Bandmaster Noel Jones. Brief references are also made to the choruses 'Grace ther is my every debt to pay' and 'Take up thy cross and follow me.No. 1241(1) Cornet Solo - In the bleak mid-winter (Trevor Worthington)A setting for cornet and band of the tune 'Cranham', written by Gustav Holst, with which we associate the words of the well-loved popular Christmas Carol.No. 1241(2) Invocation for thanksgiving (David Rowsell)Invocation, by definition, means ' a call to worship'. This music will serve this purpose for any Harvest or Thanksgiving service, using the tune, 'Come, ye thankful people, come'.No. 1242 High and lifted up (Steven Ponsford)This is music of an exciting yet relaxed nature, and it is intended that this piece be used to inspire and to 'lift up' listeners and players alike. Based on Michael W Smith's contemporary worship song, 'Open the eyes of my heart', this also contains the song 'Holy, holy, holy', to the tune of Nicea.

No. 1215 March - Merthyr Tydfil No.34 (Paul Sharman)This march was written at the request of Bandmaster Howard Roberts to celebrate the 125th anniversary of Merthyr Tydfil Corps, corps number 34 in The Salvation Army. The tunes used have obvious Welsh connections wit 'Cwm Rhonnda' and 'Aberystwyth' being featured. 'Aberystwyth' was written by Joseph Parry who lived in Merthyr Tydfil for a while.No. 1216 Mambo - Mighty God (Steven Ponsford)Based on words from Isaiah 9, 'Mighty God' is a song of worship and assurance by Chris Bowater and helen and Mark Johnson. This arrangement will afford bands the opportunity to engage the audience into a lively segment of praise.No. 1217 Song Setting - Jesus, I come (Michael Davis)A setting of George C Stebbins' beautiful melody 'Out of my bondage'.No. 1218 O rock, all ye faithful (William Gordon)The Christmas carol 'O come, all ye faithful' is arranged here in a 'rock' style and includes references to other well known Christmas carols.

An Emerald Jubilee celebrates a 40th anniversary. Jan de Haan composed this colourfully orchestrated concert march to celebrate Will van der Beek's 40th anniversary as conductor of the Deutsche Musikverein Haaren. As publisher of van der Beek's transcriptions of classical works Jan de Haan can look back on many years of successful collaboration with the knowledge that there will be many more to come. Unusually cast in a minor key, the main theme provides an interesting contrast to the more melodic major key of the second movement. The relatively slow theme gives this march a dignified stately and subdued quality.Duration: 2:45
