The piece was written by Helen Douthwaite for The Gorbals Youth Brass Band and premiered at The Scottish Youth Brass Band Championships in Perth, 2012.It was inspired by a chant written and sung by the band members on their walk from school to the rehearsal space, and soon became the official GYBB song - words of advice to the audience ...don't mess with Dynamite!A fun piece for training band, opening with chanting about the dangers of dynamite and developing into scored playing to get the participants engaged. Chick Corea is an American pianist and composer of Sicilian and Spanish descent, whose long career in jazz music continues to this day. A member of Miles Davis's band in the 1960s, he formed his own band Return to Forever in the 1970s before establishing himself as one of the greats of modern jazz.La Fiesta was composed in 1972 and included on Return to Forever's debut album. The music is in one-in-a-bar waltz time and switches between Latin carnival-style and jazz waltz, with stand-up solos for cornet, baritone and tenor horn. This arrangement was performed as part of the Cory Band's winning Brass in Concertprogramme in 2012.

Inspired by early works for wind band by British composers Gustav Holst and Ralph Vaughan Williams, this charming concert work is based on an English folk song called As I walked over London Bridge. The arranger Andrew E Lawson writes: 'While I found this folk melody in a set of cello etudes written by Vaughan Williams, it was text that solidified my decision to use this melody, and it is the text that brings some insight into the nature of this folk melody, as well as the nature of the additional original melodies and harmonies throughout the piece.'
