The Djebels
A rousing opening section with impressive countermelodies lead to a middle section in the relative major. Here, the tune is put into the bass parts with some interjections from the upper parts. The final section is a stately chorale reminiscent of Elgar at his finest! Straightforward phrasing and relatively straightforward parts make this accessible to the majority of bands.

DURATION: 3 minutes. DIFFICULTY: Championship. 'Attack of the Fighting Machines' was composed for the City of Bradford Brass Band in 2022 as part of a set of music inspired by H.G Wells' world-renowned 'War of the Worlds' book. . As the first part of the story nears an end, the mass evacuation of mankind begins as a crowd races toward an already packed steamer. Bedlam ensues as the steamer pulls away from port and heads toward the horizon. Just moments later, the silhoutte of a fighting machine appears, followed by another, and another, as the next battle of Man v Martin rages on to afiery conclusion.

A Jubilee Celebration was commissioned by the Ursem Music Association to commemorate the occasion of their 50th anniversary. It is a composition with lots of variation and one where an important role is played by the percussion section. During the past few years, Andrew Pearce enjoyed a fruitful collaboration with Phillip Cobb, principal trumpet of the London Symphony Orchestra, composing such works as The Maestro and Interlude for his album in 2012. Later Cobb invited Pearce to compose a slow melody, accompanied by the Central Band of the Royal Air Force for Cobb's upcoming album, displaying his softer, expressive side on flugelhorn. This song-like, warm lilting lullaby reflects on the joy of life.

A tone poem in one movement. This work from the American composer, Steven Reineke tells the story of the lives of Helena and Sibylla, twin sisters born in Germany in 1588. The sisters were separated at an early age, and one became a witch, and the other became a saint. The composer uses many various musical variations to illustrate the turbulent life of the sisters. This is one of Steven Reineke's most famous works and has now been arranged by Erik Rozendom.

The end of the year special is an original composition not based on any carols, written originally for orchestra for a French TV channel to celebrate their end of the year festivities. Begin the Beguine is one of the most popular songs by Cole Porter. It was written in 1935 aboard the ocean liner "Franconia" en route from Indonesia to Fiji. It was later the same year introducted by June Knight as a part of the musical "Jubilee", premiered at The Imperial Theatre in New York City.After it's premiere, it has been performed and recorded a numerous times. This arrangement is a freely adaption of the Artie Shaw version.

INVINCIBLE ARMY, The (Brass Band Set) - Erik Leidzen
When the New York Staff Band toured England in 1960 they featured much new music written for them by Erik Leidzen, including this march. The trio section is in the unusual key (brass band pitch) of Db major, a major third away from the opening key of F major, rather than the more predictable subdominant of Bb major. This presents a technical and mental challenge to the players but provides a particularly brilliant sonority when played in tune!
