20 Titles for Brass Quintet with Optional AugmentationFeaturing stylish arrangements using a flexible format for a minimum of five brass players, this set of music for small ensemble covers a wide range of composers and styles. The collection includes music by Purcell, Bach, Verdi, Gounod, Sousa, Joplin, Botsford, Elgar, Gershwin, and others.Using a unique approach to the scoring, the basic setup is for five players: two cornets/ trumpets, one horn, one trombone, and one bass tuba. Two optional "augment" players can be added using the "flugelhorn", and/ or the "Euphonium" parts. Further expansion of the ensemble is possible by adding multiple players to each part.Twelve parts are provided in total: 1st Bb Cornet, 2nd Bb Cornet, Eb Tenor Horn, French Horn in F, Bb Trombone or Baritone in treble clef, C Trombone in bass clef, EEb Bass, BBb Bass, C Tuba in bass clef, Bb Flugelhorn or Cornet (augment part 1), Bb Euphonium or Baritone (augment part 2), C Euphonium or Trombone in bass clef (augment part 2).A Full score is available seperately at a cost of �35.00. King Arthur was the first of 28 scores Benjamin Britten (1913-1976) composed for radio between 1937 and 1947. It was an ambitious dramatisation of King Arthur's life and times - part pageant, part play, partcantata - written by D.G. Bridson. This colourful suite incorporates the Introduction, a dramatic Wild Dance, some of the music underscoring the scenes for Galahad and The Holy Grail, and two vividbattle scenes, ending with The Final Battle and Apotheosis. King Arthur (scenes from a radio drama) for brass band should not be confused with a much longer orchestral suite which Paul Hindmarsh devised from the same sourcein1995. King Arthur (scenes from a radio drama) will be played by the 20 First Section finalists on 16th September 2018 at this year's National Brass Band Championships of Great Britain.

King Lear is a tragedy by William Shakespeare. Lear descends into madness bringing tragic consequences for all. Based on a mythological pre-Roman Celtic king, the play has been widely adapted for the stage and motion pictures, with the title role coveted by many of the world's most accomplished actors. Its first known performance was in 1607, George Bernard Shaw wrote, "No man will ever write a better tragedy than Lear". Originally orchestrated for 2 flutes, 4 horns, 3 trumpets, timpani, side drum, 2 harps, and strings, Debussy wrote five minutes of incidental music for a production of King Lear, produced at the Theatre Mogador Paris in 1904. Duration: 1.30. Suitable for 4th Section Bands and above.

The title of this work comes from the first line of Charles Wesley's hymn 'Rejoice, the Lord is King! Your Lord and King adore' which is set to Handel's majestic tune, Gopsal. The Handelian influence shows in more than the use of the tune itself as the opening pays homage to the Coronation Anthem 'Zadok the Priest' after which the free variations flow in quick succession. This major work was written for The International Staff Band which gave the first performance at the Epic Brass Gala Concert which followed the 2001 National Brass Band Championships.

The Lord is King (Brass Band - Score and Parts) - Steadman-Allen, Ray
Ray Steadman-Allen was for many years the driving force in Salvation Army music. His publication list of both brass and vocal works can be measured literally by the hundred. 'The Lord is King' is arguably his crowning achievement of over twenty major works for brass band. Although described as a suite, the work is more symphonic in conception and scale as well as being formidable to perform. The work is based on the Welsh hymn tune 'Llangollen' to which the hymn 'The Lord is King, I own His power' are associated. The three movements derive inspiration from the lines 'My joy, my toil, my craftman's skill, all have their place, and serve His will' found in verse five of the hymn.
