Walt Disney Pictures movie Vaiana from 2016 tells the story of Vaiana, the strong-willed daughter of the master in a Polynesian tribe. She is elected by the sea to reunite a mysterious relic with a goddess. When a disease affects the island she lives on, Vaiana set sails searching for Maui, a legendary demigod. Her goal is to save her people. The great theme song from the movie, How far I'll go, is magnificent and original and has elements of folk music. The song is nominated for Oscar in the Best original song-category. The modulation in this arrangement is re-written a semitone to make it fit our Young Band Entertainment-series.

Carl Wittrock composed La Viuda Negra (The Black Widow) for the Dutch Brass Band Championships (2010). A Spanish tinged composition filled with drama and emotion. La Viuda Negra is a Spanish widow, dressed in black clothes. Her face is marked by traces of sorrow, but her speaking eyes and sanguineous appearance attracts the attention of everyone. Many man's heart should beat faster! What is the story of this mysterious woman? The black widow (Latrodectus Mactan) is also the nickname of a spider. This spider is well known for the distinctive black and red coloring of the female of the species and for the fact that she will occasionally eat her mateafter reproduction.

Halvdan Sivertsen (born 1950) is one of the most popular singer/ songwriters in Norway. He is well know as a first-class storyteller, and he has a strong melodic line in all his music. This Christmas song was first recorded in 1991 and it has become a Norwegian classic. The lyrics tell the story of a couple travelling through time to find a city with bright lights, where they hear people sing about the couple who are about to have their first baby. But still this couple can not find anybody willing to help them, and they are forced to go back 2000 years, to find the stable where they find some shelter. Maybe they should have travelled further ahead in time in the firstplace, to find people willing to open their door to the poor and needing?

O Mio Babbino Caro (Oh My Dear Papa) is taken from the opera Gianni Schicchi by Giacomo Puccini. It is sung by Schicchi's daughter, Lauretta. after tensions between Schicchi and his prospective in-laws have reached a breaking point that threaten to separate her from Rinuccio, the boy she loves.The story of Gianni Schicchi concerns a rich old man who dies leaving all his possessions to the local monastery. His outraged relatives agree to Gianni Schicchi impersonating the dead man so that he can dictate a new will. In doing so, Schicchi manages to bequeath himself the dead man's most hotly contested possessions - his mule, his house and his mills. This means that Schicchi can now provide a full dowry to enable his daughter to marry. Originally arranged SATB by John Dankworth, now arranged for Brass Band.This lovely but very melancholy carol was originally associated with the English Mystery Plays which were put on every year around the 1600s by the guilds of the various towns to illustrate Bible stories.The story of the 'carol' is effectively The Massacre of the Innocents (Matthew 2:16). King Herod murdered three of his own sons and called for the slaying of all new-born boys....

Foyle's War Theme - Jim Parker - Len Jenkins
Foyle's War was a TV crime drama created by screenwriter Anthony Horowitz, and tells the story of Detective Chief Superintendent Christopher Foyle, played by Michael Kitchen, fighting a personal war against crime amidst the turmoil of World War Two. The music for the series was composed by 4 time BAFTA winning Jim Parker and has an ethereal minor key melody, sparsely orchestrated and Wobbleco Music has attempted to capture this atmosphere in its arrangement for Brass Band. An arrangement for a Brass Ensemble is also available. The last episode of the Foyle's War was written in 2014 but such is its popularity that there have been many requests for it to return to the screens, particularly as the writer says that one of the wartime years has yet to be covered. We shall see. Meantime enjoy this beautiful theme.

The land was ruled by a Queen named Calafia."
