Walt Disney Pictures movie Vaiana from 2016 tells the story of Vaiana, the strong-willed daughter of the master in a Polynesian tribe. She is elected by the sea to reunite a mysterious relic with a goddess. When a disease affects the island she lives on, Vaiana set sails searching for Maui, a legendary demigod. Her goal is to save her people. The great theme song from the movie, How far I'll go, is magnificent and original and has elements of folk music. The song is nominated for Oscar in the Best original song-category. The modulation in this arrangement is re-written a semitone to make it fit our Young Band Entertainment-series.

Our song was commissioned by Knarvik Skolekorps for their junior band in 2020. They wanted an original piece that could challenge their young players.This became a suite in three movements with themes that run through the whole piece.In the 2. movement there is a possibility for the band to sing in Song of friendship.. Young people finding friendship through music, as I myself have done, is one of the nicest things one can experience, in my opinion.Should you choose not to sing, you can just play the notes as printed.Svein H. Eric Ball originally made this duet arrangement with piano accompaniment for inclusion in our album Czardas (order code 0078) and it was later transcribed for brass band by Eric Wilson (who was named after the composer!). The Welsh tune is handled in turn by the duettists, one embellishing while the other carries the melody. The accompaniment parts are not difficult making this delightful, somewhat nostalgic, piece ideal for bands of all abilities.

Scene From the Silver Plate - Peter Meechan
Scene From the Silver Plate takes itas title from the Rio de la Plata, the literal translation being Silver River.This piece, using some of the traditional music from the region (Variants on the tango etc.), is quasi-incidental music from a fictional film, involving some kind of chase from the silver mountains to the estuary. Our fictional hero also has a romantic interest - will he make it away with his silver, and his lady?The trombone duets with various members of the band, including solo horn, euphonium and cornet.
