Punchinellie - William Rimmer - Jonathan Bates

Repton (Dear Lord & Father of Mankind) - Charles Parry - Gavin Somerset

Featured numerous times on BBC 1's "Songs Of Praise", this hymn tune setting by Charles Parry (of Jerusalem fame) has become a nations favourite, heard throughout the country. This arrangement uses all the colours of the brass band to bring out Parry's stunning melody, building all the way though to a big warm climax that will send chills down the spines of your audience. Resurgence - Sam Fisher

Resurgence is a new thrilling work which was composed as the finale for the Carlton Main Frickley Colliery Band's "Great Fire of London" programme which they performed at 'Brass In Concert' 2016. Written in three sections, the work graphically depicts London in its post-fire state, with damaged bells and the ghostly atmospheric sounds. The opening movement entitled, 'Devastation' leads to the rebuild of London town, with "Oranges and Lemons" being heard in short fanfares, eventually arriving at 'New London' which features the iconic "London's Burning" and familiar Westminster Chimes. This is a great showcase for any band looking to impress on both the concert and contest stage.

Rey's Theme - John Williams - Gavin Somerset

John Williams returned to the Star Wars franchise to compose music for Episode VII - The Force Awakens. Spanning a musical journey of over 40 years, his theme for the heroine of the new films, Rey, is just as powerful and emotional as any of the music composed for the saga. While describing "Rey's Theme," John Williams said the music "wasn't heroic in the sense of a hero, but instead the song was meant to convey an adventure that would resolve itself in triumph." Rockin' Around The Christmas Tree - Johnny Marks - Rob Bushnell

No Christmas concert would be complete without a solo item, and when given the chance to have a bit of fun at the same time, this piece is a must have for your programmes this year. Loosely based on the Mel & Kim version this light-hearted work allows the soloist the chance to have a bit of fun and with an optional cadenza in the middle, the entertainment value is high from start to finish. Rondeau - Mouret - Stephen Tighe

Public Television viewers will recognize this piece as the theme from "Masterpiece Theatre." It was composed in Paris in 1729 by Jean-Joseph Mouret (1682-1738) as part of a longer suite of instrumental pieces. The Rondeau has been popular at weddings and can be used as either a processional or a recessional, depending on the tempo at which it is played.
