It is often thought that 'Tis the Last Rose of Summer came from the Victorian era, when Irish songs were very popular. However this was first published in 1813 and has been adapted and arranged by many composers and arrangers over the years. This arrangement, as a Flugel Horn solo, by Gary Westwood reveals the tenderness in this wistful love song. Suitable for Advanced Youth/3rd Section Bands and above. Duration: 5.00

Based on Deck the Halls. This carol has its origins in 16th Wales. The melody, which dates from the 16th century, comes from the winter carol of that time "Nos Galan" (New Years' Eve). The lyrics were written by the Scottish composer Thomas Oliphant in 1862. This truly celtic carol is sung throughout the Christmas, Yuletide and New Year season. This arrangement steps away from any celtic 'feel' and instead presents the material in a full-on swing style. Duration: 2.30

Commissioned by Austria's leading brass band, Brass Band Oberoesterreich, Titan's Progress is a series of descriptive, virtuoso episodes based on the principal character of the novel by Jean Paul. This was also the original subject of Mahler's Symphony No.1, from which Hermann Pallhuber derives much of his material.
