Banana Island is an extraordinary fictional place: coconut palms, date palms, mango trees, banana trees and mangroves grow in abundance. Animals live there in heavenly harmony. On a Caribbean danse rhythm, the Soca, several themes develop and create a dialogue between the various registers. A central section offers the cornet and trombone the chance to display their soloist skills. This work is full of energy and brimming over with enthusiasm! This music forms part of the musical tale La Malediction d'Aragne (Aragne's Curse), written by Dominique Schweizer and commissioned by the Lyre de Courtion (dir. Thomas Caplin is a Swedish professor of choral conducting. He works at the Inland Norway University of Applied Sciences in Hamar. He composed this beautiful opus for choir based on the ancient text Ubi caritas.The text is often used during Maundy Thursday, describing Jesus washing the feet of his disciples: Where charity and love are, there God isIn this arrangement, a smaller group of players are soloists. His goal with this 5 movement Cantabile, was to compose a piece which fully complied with all that is asked of a top-level test piece in the 21st Century, but also to reconnect with more traditional values such as lyricism in melody and richness of blended brass sound. £35.00I Saw Three Ships (Brass Band - Score and Parts) - McKenzie, Jock
This is a traditional English carol rumoured to have originated in Derbyshire. The earliest printed version is from the 17th century and the familiar version was later published in William Sandys' collection of 'Christmas Carols Ancient and Modern' in 1833. There are numerous theories as to the meaning of the carol's words; after all, Bethlehem, the place of Jesus' birth is not a coastal location. It has been suggested that the ships are actually camels (ships of the desert) used by the Magi for their visit to the baby Jesus. My arrangement takes advantage of the traditional 'jig' style of this carol to add a little 'Celtic' flavour. Duration: 3.00

As such, there are brief references to it within the piece. A good understanding of swing style is essential and the articulations should be observed as much as possible. The martellatos should be short and accented. This music should be played with a sense of fun and audience participation is encouraged.

This dramatic piece is based on the famous oil painting by Jacques-Louis David, 'Napoleon Crossing the Alps'. There are three parts: Approaching the Great Saint-Bernard Pass depicting snowy mountains and the determined march of the Napoleonic Army; The Emperor Napoleon a noble and heroic theme, accompanied by stately fanfares with an exotic flavour; and Onwards, to the Empire! describing Napoleon's relentless drive to expand the French empire across the globe at. This piece was first performed directly in front of the Napoleon Museum in Arenenberg, Switzerland in Summer 2016. Duration: 10.00

'Is That The Time' was written in 2014 for UK national award winning band 'Youth Brass 2000'. It's a showpiece in a jazzy fusion idiom with a full and central role for the kit drummer and percussionists. The temptation must be resisted to play the piece too quickly and in so doing losing the 16th note syncopations inherent within the rhythmic groove. The challenge is not so much one of getting the notes, although there are a few harmonic surprises along the way, as one of playing as a cohesive rhythmic unit. Duration: 4.30. Suitable for 1st Section Bands and above.

"Leviathan" began its evolution as a workshop work inspired by the poem written by Heathcote Williams entitled; "Whale Nation". At the time of this workshop the tentet brass repertoire existed of extremely well written original or arranged works of a lighter nature but there was a shortage of works with a greater emotional depth and edge, hence Leviathan's early conception as an atmospheric and emotive work. The workshop piece explored whale sound and song and was a 25 minute work in two parts. After many years of the workshop sketches sitting dormant the new work Leviathan is a much shorter and concise work. It contains only one of the original melodic themes of the workshop work. Leviathan is driven and underpinned by melodic and rhythmic elements. It is a programmed work following the awe inspiring majestic might and beauty of whales through to a hunt scene, the chase, and the ultimate demise of earth's largest mammal. Originally commissioned by Superbrass for brass ensemble, this arrangement is by Tom Barton. Duration: 6.30. Suitable for 1st Section Bands and above.
