Judd: Spirit of the Pioneers

This work was composed for the Canadian Staff Band for their 25th Anniversary celebrations in 1994, and was premiered at the Spring Festival in the Roy Thomson Hall, Toronto.

Judd: Stand Strong

This march was written for the North York Temple Band, Toronto, for their tour of the UK in 2012. Inspired by St Paul's words to the Ephesians to 'put on the full armour of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground' (Ephesians 6:13 NIV), the music features three songs of warfare. The first song (S.A.S.B. 989) forms the introduction to the piece and is presented by Percussion and two muted Cornets. The image here is of a distant army approaching with banners aloft. The volume of the music increases as the army approaches:We'll shout aloud throughout the landThe praises of our God,We'll fight beneath our flag unfurled,Kept by his precious blood.

Judd: Star Lake

Unbelievable to think that this march is 70 years old written when Eric Ball was a guest at the famous Star Lake music camp in the USA. Entertaining and easily within the grasp of all bands.

Judd: Star of Wonder

This up-tempo arrangement features the carols 'The first Nowell' and 'We three kings of Orient are'.

Judd: Steadily Forward March

This march is derived from the chorus of the same name and, in addition to using it in its entirety, phrases of the chorus appear several times during its course.

Judd: Supremacy

This challenging work leads us to contemplate the need we have to acknowledge Christ as supreme in our lives. The three tunes contained are all strongly associated with words which speak of supremacy with the finale, based on the hymn tune 'Pembroke', outlining words penned by William Booth 'My Lord who reigns supreme'.

Judd: Sweet By and By

Judd: Symphonic Rhapsody for Euphonium

This is a developed solo in which lyrical and variation elements are contrasted and combine. The theme is an old song 'So we'll roll the old chariot along, and we don't drag on behind'.

Judd: Symphony of Thanksgiving

Specially written for the Diamond Jubilee Celebration of The International Staff band in 1951 concluding with 'Praise my soul, the King of Heaven' and a phrase of 'Give to Jesus glory'.
